"The greatest pain of all is the fear that happiness might somehow elude us forever; the greatest joy of all is the realization that the potential for happiness is available to us now and always."
Robert Holden
Hi there! I'm so glad you are here!
After reading Monday's letter, one of my dear neighbor friends said that she loves reading these letters, but she often doesn't have time to do the exercises that I suggest with everything else she has on her plate.
I totally get that!
Many of you have jobs that take a lot of your time, and you just want to chill or do something fun after work rather than feeling like you have to work on yourself with the exercises that I recommend.
That was a big "aha" moment for me.
It gives me an opportunity to save the deeper personal growth stuff for my books and courses, and I can use this space to share food for thought and some new perspectives that don't require any extra time or effort from you beyond reading these letters.
So enough with the blabbing and onto today's topic.
Do you struggle to find patience when you're waiting for something that you really want?
I know I sure do!
I'm all about knocking out the steps to get from point A to point B quickly, and I don't want anything getting in my way!
It's funny how life knows this about most of us and yet it still makes us wait for things.
What's up with that?!?
My teacher Jeffrey Allen says that we're often viewing the present moment as an obstacle to be overcome rather than seeing it for the blessing that it is.
When we are impatient to get to some outcome in the future, we aren't being fully present or appreciating what we have right here, right now.
We think that something in the future will make us happier than we are right now.
How many times have we thought that, though?
"Once I have this, then I'll be happy."
"Once I have that, then I'll finally be happy and content with my life."
How long does the happiness and contentment actually last before we're craving the next thing to make us happy?
Imagine if you received everything on your Dream Life list right now.
How awesome would that be- for a few days, a few weeks, or a few months?
When we're not appreciating what's right in front of us, the happiness never lasts for a sustained amount of time.
So, if you're feeling impatient about something that you're working towards in your life right now, are you willing to drop the struggle, open your hands to receive the gifts of today, and appreciate all of the love and beauty in your life right now?
Trust that everything will happen at the right time and place.
You never have to worry about something that is meant for you passing you by.
You simply get to receive.
You can chill out, slow down, relax, and just BE.
Let things fall into place when you are in the best place to receive and enjoy them.
I love you, and I will "see" you on Friday!
Much love to you,
Amber
