Good morning!
Thank you for being here!
I promise that we will talk about money this week, but before we do, I'd like to have a discussion with you about the ways that you limit your own happiness.
I'm still journaling my way through Be Happy by Robert Holden, and he challenges his readers to create their own definition of happiness.
How do you define happiness in your own life?
Is your version of happiness dependent on certain conditions?
Is it dependent on what other people are doing?
Can you be happy simply because you choose to be happy?
Robert suggests listing out all the ways that you are limiting your own happiness.
When it comes to allowing unlimited well-being, abundance, and joy, in what ways are you limiting yourself?
I limit my own happiness by...
- Being critical of my body
- Pushing myself to be more productive
- Spending so much time planning for the future that I'm not completely present now
- Pushing myself to be more social online than I prefer to be (major introvert over here
)
- Being hard on myself that I'm not farther along in my book editing process
- Attaching my happiness to whether or not all of my dreams are coming true right now in this moment
It's amazing that any of us are ever happy when we place so many conditions on our happiness.
Nothing different has to happen in order for us to choose happiness.
You are inherently happy when you're not blocking or limiting yourself with all kinds of conditions.
The first step in releasing your limits on happiness is simply to be aware when you are not letting yourself be happy.
Can you acknowledge when you're being hard on yourself?
Then you can choose to stop it and allow your natural happiness to flow.
Informal dance parties are great for unleashing your happiness.
Later this week we will talk about money and investing in yourself, but for now, will you allow yourself to be happy just because?
Thank you for exploring the topic of happiness with me, and I'm excited to spend time with you on Friday!
Much love to you,
Amber
