Hi there! How's it going with letting your life be easy?
I have to admit that I slip back into hard and struggle very quickly and easily. π
I had a great conversation with my brother on Friday after he read my letter about letting it be easy.
He brought up a really good point.
Often, we dive into something hoping that it will be easy, and then when it's not as easy as we would like, we're tempted to quit and not attempt new challenges in the future.
I asked him, "What if you could allow the answers to come easily then?"
Many of us hold the assumption that we have to have something all figured out before we even begin so that we are ready to solve any and all challenges that may arise.
What projects or dreams are you stalling on because you think you have to have all the steps figured out before you begin?
What if you could trust that the right ideas and the right steps will be given to you when you need them so that you can take on any project or challenge and complete it successfully?
The problem I have in my own life is that I fill up my to-do list with so many projects and things that I want to get done that I have very little time and space some days to receive the inspiration and ideas that want to come to me.
Ideas are always flowing to us, but how often are we actually creating space in our minds and in our lives for these new ideas to flow?
I was reading a sample of Do Less Be More: Ban Busy and Make Space for What Matters over the weekend, and the authors were saying that we need times of doing nothing (simply looking out into space and taking some deep breaths) in order to receive our best ideas.
They said that some of the world's greatest scientists and inventors spent a lot of time relaxing and doing things they enjoyed, and their most brilliant ideas would come to them in these moments of just being.
Have you noticed how focusing really hard on a problem and getting more frustrated by the minute is never solved by focusing even harder?
Stepping away, taking a walk, going to the bathroom, getting a drink or snack, or just looking up at the sky for a minute can clear your mind enough to allow the solution to come to you.
Many of your best ideas are going to occur to you when you're simply being and chilling rather than filling your days with an endless list of things to do or focusing on all of the problems that you want to solve.
We have to remind ourselves that we are human "beings" and not human "doings". βΊοΈ
We don't truly value the action of doing nothing even though it's one of the best things we can do for our own happiness.
How can you begin to carve out little bits of time in your schedule to do nothing but stare off into space and daydream?
To spend a few minutes watching the clouds go by?
To look up from your computer every so often and take a deep breath?
You get to be supported by lots of brilliant ideas that will make your life so much easier.
It is simply your job to be open to receiving these ideas.
Will you allow the answers to flow easily to you by scheduling time to do nothing (even if there are a million things you feel like you need to get done today)?
I'm inviting you to do less action and have more moments of stillness in your days in order to have more love and peace in your life.
Try it out for a few days and see how it goes!
Much love to you,
Amber
