Hello there! It is a pleasure to spend time with you again. 💜
Today we're going to learn a tool that will bring your presence powerfully into your body so you can clearly sense the most joyful direction for you in any moment.
If you are sensitive to everything going on around you like I am, life can feel very overwhelming at times.
It can feel like there's a storm swirling around you, knocking you down, and stealing your peace.
You think you need the people and the circumstances in your life to change in order for you to feel better.
I'm going to let you in on a little secret- you can experience peace and joy no matter what hurricanes or tornadoes are swirling around you.
I first learned this tool from Jeffrey Allen in his Duality class, and it has given me the power to feel stable, secure, and peaceful in the middle of life's storms.
The hardest part for me is remembering to use it on a consistent basis.
As you learn this tool, be thinking about how you can incorporate it into your daily routine.
Whether you are standing or sitting, you can visualize a column of bright light extending from your feet all the way to the center of the earth.
This column of light is as wide as your body.
The light is grounding you powerfully to the energy of the earth (like a charging dock), and it is pulling any stress or tension from your body while sending well-being and peace back up to you from the earth.
If you prefer to visualize thick tree roots growing under your feet, going every which direction, and extending down to the center of the earth to pull energy and peace from the earth, you can use that picture instead.
You could also pretend that your feet are magnets that are strongly attracted to a giant magnet that lies just below the surface you are sitting or standing on.
The huge magnet extends all the way down to the center of the earth and pulls stress from your body.
Alternatively, you could visualize an anchor extending from your feet to the center of the earth.
You can try out each of these different visualizations to see which one helps you feel most centered, stable, grounded, and powerful.
You could even make up your own visualization that creates this effect for you.
If you can find a way to remind yourself to practice grounding throughout the day (using sticky notes around the house or your workplace or setting up reminders on your phone), you will experience the greatest benefits from this tool.
You can practice grounding in the morning before you start rushing around for the day, you can try it when you're feeling overwhelmed or stuck in a swirl of thoughts, you can practice it when people around you are experiencing strong emotions that usually suck you in, and you can ground yourself when you are brushing your teeth at night to help you feel centered and calm before you go to bed.
The more you practice, the easier this will become, and the more you'll naturally feel grounded even when you're not consciously thinking about it.
We've talked about bringing your attention behind your eyes (here), breathing mindfully (here), and watching your thoughts float by (here), and those tools can work beautifully in certain circumstances.
There are other times when you are so caught up in your thoughts that none of these tools seem to work.
That's when you can visualize all of your thoughts settling down into your lower body and feet like the grains of sand in a sand timer and flowing right down your column of light, your tree roots, your magnet, or your anchor.
Those thoughts and any stress are carried right down your grounding cord to the center of the earth to be transformed into peace.
The more you have your awareness in the lower half of your body and your feet, the less likely you are to get swept away by whatever's going on in your mind.
If you are a female, you will appreciate having this tool when you are PMSing (or going through menopause) and feeling all of the swirling emotions and bodily sensations that that time of the month brings.
If you are a male, you will also appreciate having this tool when you are PMSing and feeling out of sorts.
I would encourage you to practice feeling deeply grounded and rooted to the center of the earth as many times as you can today.
In fact, you can try it out right now as you visualize your preferred grounding cord (light, tree roots, magnet, anchor, etc.) and breathe deeply for a minute or two as stress gets pulled from your body and nourishment flows back up to you from the earth.
Whenever you are working on a project, interacting with people, or just feeling off balance for some reason, this is a fabulous, go-to tool!
Even if you're simply trying to make a decision, being fully grounded and fully present in your body will make it so much easier for you to know which choice is right for you in the moment.
Which choice feels most light and relaxing to your body?
After you practice using this tool, let me know how it's working for you and tell me about the peaceful situations that you create by simply grounding yourself (and the people in your life- you can visualize grounding them too ).
I have really enjoyed chatting with you, and I look forward to another stimulating conversation tomorrow!
Much love to you,
Amber
