Thanks for being here.
Today I'd like to talk with you about what it means to follow your own path.
Have you ever made a choice that was the exact opposite of what everyone else around you was choosing because you just knew that it was the right choice for you?
Chad and I have made many of these choices over the years, starting with the homebirths of our children.
Even though people tried to convince us otherwise, we knew in our hearts that homebirth was the perfect choice for us.
It brought us so much joy to birth Kaylie in the comfort of our home and to watch Kip be born in our surrogate's home.
Can you think of a time in your life when you have taken the path less traveled because you somehow knew it was the right path for you?
I like to think of life as a highway.
Most people are speeding down the interstate of life cutting each other off and racing to who knows where.
I see myself on a quiet, winding road that overlooks the ocean.
I got off the highway of life a long time ago.
I was tired of following the crowd.
It's an exhausting existence to choose against everything you know to be true for you simply to stay with the herd.
On this quiet road, I can hear my inner guidance so much more clearly as it acts as the GPS in my life.
I never get too far off the path of my joy when I listen to this still, small voice.
When I take a turn away from my joy, my GPS says, "Recalculating" and then it helps me find my way back to the beautiful, quiet road.
Are you faced with a choice right now that will either lead you to the busy highway or to your own less-traveled road?
I encourage you to follow the gentle nudges of your spirit.
Deep down, you always know which is the right path for you.
You might not always be honest with yourself about what you really want, because you want to fit in or please someone in your life.
But you know.
You always know which choice feels light to you and which one feels heavier than a load of bricks.
One choice gives you freedom and more of you , and the other one makes you feel restless like a bull ready to charge out of the gate.
You might not make everyone happy with your choice, but this is your wild and crazy life.
You get to decide how it is lived.
Will you make the choice for freedom and joy?
Will you surrender to the greater thing that is wishing to happen through you?
Will you relax and take in the scenery on this beautiful coastal road as you make your way to everything you are wanting?
Only you can decide.
Will you follow your own path?
I wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving as you celebrate tomorrow, and I'll see you on Friday!
Much love to you,
